Parking/Street Closures/Dining/Attractions

PUBLIC PARKING: (Check back week of for more details)

We are grateful to surrounding parking lots and garages who will be offering discounted parking rates to attendees.  Please check back the week of the event to see all discounted locations. 

The Morgan Street garage - $4 for all day parking (garage lies behind/East of Capitol Community College, the former G. Fox building) between Market St. and Columbus Blvd. - #38 on the map. Special thanks to the Hartford Parking Authority for making this available!  For additional parking options, visit www.hartfordparking.com. 

On-street parking at meters is free on weekends except where parking restrictions are posted.


 
One Financial Plaza - FREE parking to all showing a military I.D.  Parade rate is $5.00!
 


EXPECTED STREET CLOSURES:
  • All highway exit ramps into the city will be open until 11:30 at which time The Capital Ave. exit off of I-84 Eastbound (exit 48B) will close, as will exit 29A (Capitol Area) on I-91.
  • Buckingham St. will be closed from Washington St. to Hudson St. from 10 am until the conclusion of the parade.
  • Portions of Washington, Trinity, Pearl and Main Streets will close at 11:30pm to clear the parade route and will re-open as the parade leaves the area.
  • Whitehead Highway will close heading into the city beginning at 11:30 pm and will reopen following the parade.

CTTRANSIT VETERAN'S DAY PARADE DETOURS IN DOWNTOWN HARTFORD -- Sunday Nov 3rd

During the Veterans Day Parade (Sunday, November 3, 2013 from 12:30 to 3:30PM) the downtown bus stop for ALL ROUTES will be on Market Street between State and Kinsley Streets.

There will be NO bus service in Hartford along...

--Main Street between Charter Oak Avenue and Trumbull Street

--Asylum Street between Main and Garden Streets

--Capitol Avenue between Main and Broad Streets


LOCAL DINING:

Restaurants open on Sunday afternoon/evening (opening times vary)


McKinnon's Irish Pub (Asylum Ave) Will be open at 11:00 am until closing and welcomes all veterans and their families with beer specials free food for spectators and marchers.

Woody's hotdog (Main Street) and beer specials all day long.

City Steam Brewery Cafe (Main Street) will be opening at 11:00 am on Sunday and will be staying open straight through the day serving food until 1100 pm.  Regular menu will be offered which is viewable online at www.citysteambrewerycafe.com. 

The Russian Lady on Ann Uccello Street and The Tavern Downtown on Allyn Street will both be open at 11:00 am Sunday and remain open all day.

Agave Grill, Allyn Street - opens at 11 am

Aladdin Halal Restaurant, Allyn Street - Open from 11 am to 1 pm

Black Bear Saloon, Allyn Street - 2 for 1 beer specials, !5% off food for parade spectators or participants but you must show your 2012 parade pin (available for purchase at the Info booth on Main street)

Feng Asian Bistro, Asylum Street

m&m Coffee Shop at the Hilton Hartford, Trumbull Street - Open at 7 am and close at 10 pm.  Breakfast offered until Noon.

Morton's the Steakhouse, Main Street/State House Square

Quizno's, 100 Trumbull Street, Opening special from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. - 10% of Parade Day Sales will return to the Veterans Fund.

Salute, Trumbull Street - Open at 3 pm; 20% off for parade participants

The Russell, Pratt Street
